Louis was born in Baton Rouge and was raised in Shreveport. He returned to Baton Rouge to attend LSU. Louis has been involved in horticulture since 1973.

Louis began his television career as a guest on a 5:00 p.m. newscast in 1995. After the huge response to his lawn and gardening advice, he was asked to join the team.

Louis's advice can also be heard on the radio on Louis Miller's Lawn and Garden Show.

Louis resides in Baton Rouge, and he has one daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, cooking and photography.
